Glasses....

This all started at Savanna's Two year check up. We went in for a normal check up and got a referral to a pediatric ophthalmologist. They were concerned that her right eye was slightly turning in, but they did not seem overly concerned. Gary said that he had noticed it a day or two before but thought that he might have missed seen. I set up an appointment that day with Dr Scott, but it was not for 3 weeks.
We continued to watch her eye and it seemed to get worse everyday and very sever at night. Our appointment day came and I went in praying it would be something she could grow out of, but we got different news.
we were told she was severely far-sided, and in most cases she was seeing double, which is why her eye was crossing. Dr Scott explained that it her brain was crossing in order to shut that eye off so she would only see one image instead of two. He told us that over time she would loose vision in that eye and could be come blind in it too. We were then told that glass would stop this from happening. It would not make the vision problem go away but it would stop her eyes from crossing which will prevent vision loss and it would allow her to see properly.
We got her fitted for glasses the same day and we will get them next week. It seems like a long week, we know what we can do to fix it, so continuing to watch that eye continue to cross is hard.
We feel so blessed to have such good health care providers to have helped us catch this in time. We are very thankful that there is something we can do to help her. Here are a few pictures from our day of picking out glasses...
